Environmental impacts of BIPV case study buildings and BIPV systems

Abstract

The environmental impacts of the active glass façades of five buildings and of the roof-integrated PV system of one building are analysed following a life cycle assessment approach. Additionally, the primary energy demand, greenhouse gas emissions and total environmental impacts of six façade constructions with different PV modules and substructures, which are exhibited in the UmweltArena Spreitenbach, are assessed.

This study was commissioned by the Swiss Federal Offices for Energy and of Environment and the City of Zürich.
